2023 programme:

Friday 6th October: 19.30pm – Maeve Binchy’s End of Term

End of Term will have a Rehearsed Reading directed by Conall Morrisson featuring a stellar cast.  The action is centred on three teachers whose lives threaten to be exposed by a devious schoolgirl.

Talkback after the performance featuring cast members and actor/novelist, and friend of Maeve Binchy, Claudia Carroll, will be moderated by Gillian Binchy. BOOKED OUT NOW

Saturday 7th October: 09.30-17.00pm – Together We Rise… a day of conversations and readings featuring: Francis Brennan, Catherine Ryan Howard, Edel Coffey, Emer McLysaght, Donal Fallon, Clodagh Finn, Nicola Tallant, Jim Culleton, Dominic Dromgoole, Karina Molloy, Maeve O’Rourke, Ian Robertson, Katie Hannon, Neil Hegarty, Caroline Erskine, Madeleine Keane, Lia Mills, Christine Dwyer Hickey, Andrew Hughes, Niall MacMonagle, Oliver Callan, Sarah Binchy and Gordon Snell.  Readings from Maeve’s work by Deirdre O’Kane & Lise-Ann McLaughlin.

Festival Friday

ECHOES opens on Friday evening of the festival weekend with a performance of some of Maeve’s work, followed by a post-show discussion.

For 2023, we are delighted to announce a Rehearsed Reading of Maeve’s first stage play “End of Term“, directed by Conall Morrison, with a stellar cast. This will be followed by a lively post-show discussion.

Begin in the Writers’ Gallery with our knowledgeable guides & a video of Maeve talking about her writing.

Hear the story of the Gordon Snell rose.  Quench your thirst afterwards in the Queens next door.

Directions & Transport

Dalkey is on some of the most stunning coastline, with a mountainous backdrop, just south of Dublin City Centre, en route to Co. Wicklow.

Aside from by car, the quickest way to reach the Castle is by DART. The DART journey is a relaxing experience travelling along the beautiful coastline with magnificent sea views. Dalkey is approx. 30 minutes from Dublin's Connolly, Tara or Pearse stations (travelling south). Turn right on exiting Dalkey train station.

Dalkey is on the Aircoach route to/from Dublin Airport. From Dublin City Centre, a number of local bus options are also available. Paid parking and coach parking are available nearby.

Tickets for Living History Tour encompass fully guided tour of 14th Century Townhouse Castle, 10th Century Early Christian Church & Graveyard, Modern Writers' Gallery & Heritage Centre with interactive screens & scale models. Dalkey Castle, where costumed actors bring history to life.
