ECHOES Maeve Binchy and Irish Writers at Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre on Saturday 30th September from 9.30-5.30pm.

Another exciting event as part of ECHOES will be a discussion on The role of the playwright in the rehearsal room.

Samuel Beckett was very hands on in rehearsals when directing his own play Endgame. Maeve Binchy, in her meticulous fashion, gives us an insight into his methods in her article When Beckett met Binchy.

We are looking forward to hearing Barry McGovern, one of Ireland’s leading actors, about working on Samuel Beckett’s plays, most recently on Krapp’s Last Tape at the Edinburgh International Festival.

This will be followed by RTE’s Myles Dungan, asking leading Irish directors Conall Morrison, Annabelle Comyn and Jim Culleton for their opinions on whether the presence of the playwright is a help or a hindrance in the rehearsal room.

All part of ECHOES  – Saturday 30th September from 9.30-5.30pm.
