Dermot Bolger in conversation with Deirdre Purcell

Deirdre Purcell enjoyed careers in broadcasting with RTE, in journalism as an acclaimed feature writer and in acting with the Abbey Theatre, before she became the best-selling author of many celebrated novels. These include, ‘A Place of Stones’, ‘Falling for a Dancer’, ‘Love Like Hate Adore’, ‘Tell me Your Secret’ and ‘The Winter Gathering’. Her most recent book is a posthumous biography of the late Father Aengus Finucane of Concern. She is currently writing her 13th novel and presents ‘It Says in the Papers’ for Morning Ireland on RTE Radio One.

Dermot Bolger’s twelve novels include ‘The Journey Home’, New Town Soul’, (now a Leaving Certificate choice) and most recently ‘Tanglewood’, set in Blackrock. His debut play, ‘The Lament for Arthur Cleary’, received the Samuel Beckett Award. His selected poems, ‘That Which is Suddenly Precious’, is published this month. In 2012, he was named Commentator of the Year at the Irish Newspaper awards.
