Have a Merry Medieval Christmas at Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre
Wednesday November 29th – Friday December 22nd
Step in to ‘Christmases Past’ in the company of the Medieval Lords and Ladies of Dalkey Castle. They will fascinate you with the secrets of Christmas: the origins of ‘ the Christmas Box’, ‘the Piggy Bank’, ‘Carol Singing’, the wearing of ‘Christmas Holly’ and the fruit laden Christmas Tree.
Savour the delights of an imaginary Christmas Feast prepared by our own resident Medieval Cook. See her prepare the traditional Mince Pies, Butter and Saffron Basted Goose, traditional Humble Pies (from the umbles of deer), Boar’s Head, Hedgehog Pie, and delicious Frumenty. (You can make a wish!).
The resident Barber-Surgeon, in addition to all his Surgeon’s skills, is expert in predicting the future through his knowledge of the Tarot. Be sure to hang a stone on the Christmas tree for good luck in the year ahead.
