Drop-in Tours of Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre
Looking for things to do in Dublin? A visit to Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre is a must!
All visits to the castle are guided. From July 1st until further notice, tours are weekdays at 10.00, 11.30. 13.30, 15.00 & 16.30. Weekends and Bank Holiday Monday at 11.00, 13.30, 15.00 & 16.30. Tours last one hour. Must be pre-booked. For group bookings (10+) see Guided Group Tours.
Deilg Inis Living History actors will bring the history to life in a fun and entertaining way. The Archer demonstrates his great skill outdoors with the Longbow and Crossbow. Cookery and Barber Surgery will no doubt reference past plagues, especially the one when all the inhabitants around here decamped to Dalkey Island to self-isolate!
DLR Co. Co. are sponsoring 2 FREE tours each day at 10.00 and 16.30 on weekdays and 11.00 and 16.30 at weekends.
What will I see?
Experience what life was like in the Middle Ages with our costumed actors on the living history tour. You will also have time to browse around the site where you will see:
• An Early Christian Church & Graveyard dating back to 700AD
• The 14th century mini castle (1390) with all its defensive features intact: Murder Hole, Machicolation and Battlements.
• A Heritage Centre with interactive screens (in 12 languages) and scaled models.
• A Writers’ Gallery featuring the work of 45 writers and creative artists from Joyce to Bono and Beckett to Maeve Binchy.

Wednesday – Friday: 10.00 – 18.00
Saturday & Sunday & Bank Holiday: 11.00 -18.00
The last tour is at 16.30.
Admission 2020: Adult €10.50, Concession €9.50, Child (under 12) €8.50, Family (2 Adults & 2 Children (under 12) €29.50. Check in advance to avoid pre-booked groups.
