The charming town of Dalkey, with its medieval streetscape is attractively situated on the southern end of Dublin Bay. It is approx half an hour's drive from the city centre and is on the Dart line.

The award-winning Heritage Centre includes a fifteenth century medieval Town House , a tenth century Church & Graveyard, a Modern Exhibition Area and a vibrant Art Gallery. Scaled models and information panels with text written by local Tony-Award winner, Hugh Leonard, vividly illustrate the history of the area.

The rich literary history of the area is enhanced by the fact that James Joyce set Chapter Two of Ulysses in Dalkey. International best selling author, Maeve Binchy and film-director, Neil Jordan live in Dalkey. There is a Writers' Gallery with information on the acclaimed writers of the locality. See Joyce & Writers

A short Introductory Tour is included in the admission price. You can view a video of the archaeology of the area, presented by Archaeologist, Chris Corlett.

Stroll through the centuries ...with a visit to Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre!

"Those who are patient and will sit, wait and listen or linger along the tree-shaded roads running down to the sea can hear the centuries pass" Hugh Leonard
